Ryan Dahle has kept alive a complex, ambiguous organism that he created in 1995 named Limblifter. Continual re-invention and a revolving door of some of Canada's best musicians have kept the animal evolving, establishing Ryan as an innovator among artists and fans of many contrasting genres of music.
Limblifter has provided a springboard for many musicians and served as a template and inspiration to countless indie-rock, art-rock, alternative, modern rock and pop bands alike.
Dahle's work is described as poetic, arcane, colorful, poignant, unique, prophetic, instructional, and sometimes uncomfortably honest, his lyrics are forward thinking; wrought with instinct, escapism, social pressure, madness, addiction and disjointed relationships.
Limblifter’s checkered past is sprinkled with Juno nominations, Casby awards, five number 11 Canadian radio hits, 10+ videos, and three independent full-length albums. Now with Toronto-based vinyl-only indie label "We are Busy Bodies" who is releasing the first Limblifter record for the first time on vinyl, Limblifter has agreed to perform a handful of shows in Canada.
Currently on staff in Limblifter are long-time collaborators Megan Bradfield and Brent Follett who both played on the last LL record I/O as well as the 2009 Ryan Dahle double solo album Irrational Anthems. Also on board is old friend Gregory Macdonald who is the fifth member of Sloan.
Lately, Dahle is the recurring collaborative force behind a handful of great artists; producing and co-writing the upcoming double album for Canadian innovative music legend k-os, working with young artists like Dustin Bentall and Sherry St. Germain, as well as engineering and mixing many records by artists such as Hot Hot Heat and Prairie Cat. He has also built a solid reputation under a pseudonym as a mastering engineer, finishing over 300 records since 2000. Dahle’s music, songwriting, and personality are the omnipotent presence behind great invention.
